Loose fill Play Bark safer surfacing systems are economical to install, although maintenance and top-ups will be required bark systems still offer a safe alternative to synthetic surfaces. They are rather more natural in their appearance and sit very well in rural and residential environments. A well maintained bark chip play surface also offers very good impact absorbency.
Play bark can be supplied and installed by Garden Karma or sold on a supply only basis for self-installation. Bulk orders for larger areas can be delivered and tipped straight to site or in the case of smaller amounts, perhaps a residential play area, the play bark can be supplied in bags for easy handling.
Preparation for play bark installation is minimal. Pits may be installed above ground using suitable tannalised timber edging to form a retaining wall and a porous membrane underneath to discourage weed growth. The play bark is then cast evenly over the entire area to a depth of 300mm. For bark pits that are to be set into the ground the requirements would be the same except an excavation of the area to a depth of 300mm would have to be carried out.
